Migori county ODM leaders and officials will be whipped to support former cabinet minister Ochillo Ayacko as the party flag bearer on October 8 by-elections.

On Friday the party gave Ayacko direct nominations from a list of eight other candidates.

Led by Suna Easr MP Junet Mohammed and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, the two warned of disciplinary action against leaders who go against the directive.

They were speaking in several functions in Suna East and Suna West accompanied by several leaders.

“Anybody else can oppose Ayacko, but if you are a member of ODM regardless of the position you hold, your stature in life we shall not hesitate to take disciplinary action and you will be surprised,” Wandayi said.

Wandayi said ODM “will not tolerate or spare” absurd politicians who are humble when seeking the party ticket and turn into “political hyenas” after being elected.

Junet challenged Oruba-Ragana MCA Mallan Ogega who is also the Migori assembly majority leader to ensure all MCAs elected and nominated by the party support Ayacko.

“The same party that stood by you has called you to action, be keen to serve you party so that it will see you with good eyes in future,” Junet said.

Their statement came after Migori governor Okoth Obado vowed to support Independent candidate Dalmas Otieno for the same seat.

Obado has vowed not be intimidated by those calling for disciplinary action.
