The office of Migori governor Okoth Obado has issued an alert of a fake Facebook page with his name conning members of the public of cash.

In a statement, the office said they “have  noted with great concern, the existence of a fake Facebook account appropriating the esteemed name of H.E Okoth Obado.”

According to the office the account has claimed to over unsecured loans from Ksh10,000 to Ksh200,000 and one is required to send Ksh373 to 0798301915.

The number then asks for loan amount, ID Number and County, after which the loan will be processed in a record three (3) minutes.

“The Governor runs no such scheme. He repudiates that Facebook account and emphatically condemns the duplicitous individual(s) behind that account, who are out to swindle money from unsuspecting citizens,” the statement said.

Members of the public are urged to be wary of such individual(s) and see through the intentions of those behind the aforementioned sham.
