Migori women featured in the #Embrace4FoodSecurity at JKUAT

Women entrepreneurs from Migori County got a chance to show case their business in the #Embrace4FoodSecurity event that was held at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

The Women are drawn from Zeraphatan Widows and Orphans group, Kanyadoro and Ray of Hope women groups among others.

The Kanyadoro Women group takes part in various activities including roasting groundnuts, peanut butter processing, juice processing and beads making.

Other women leaders sample some of the products by the Migori Women Groups

They also take part in table banking with some of the proceeds going to girl child empowerment where they support them especially the orphaned girls with school fees and other necessities.

The group launched their own Rongo Peanut Butter processing plant with the assistance of National Government Affirmative action fund (NGAAF) through the office of the Migori Woman Representative.

Ray of Hope on the other hand run a green house project that is currently supporting about 2,300 residents of Uriri.

Products by the Migori Women Groups

The group is in partnership with BEKAS (Bware, Edemba, Kisugunua, Achuth and Sigria (Schools) where they run school feeding programs.

Zeraphatan Widows and Orphans are currently in partnership with the office of the Migori Women Representative where they plant Sunflowers in Kuria in a poverty alleviation program.
