To the team of Prof. Edward Oyugi Akong’o/Anne Omodho Anyanga for Migori County Governor I want to give my thoughts on why they handed our victory to Obado.

1. If comparison is made between Obado / N.M. Mwita alliance and Oyugi/Anyanga alliance, one finds that the former was out of convenience while the latter was out of coercion. In stood from the outset that the former was a team while latter was a crowd of people suspicious of each others TRUE intentions. ODM should have left Oyugi alone to choose his running mate and I believe Mwita Tosha was the right one. The outfit that came to represent the Oyugi/Anyanga crowd had internal fissures from the word go and could not work together.

2. The campaign that followed in the Oyugi/Anyanga alliance was marked with very clear desire to outdo one another. Very few times did Oyugi and Anyanga demonstrate a team spirit in their campaigns. Whenever they did campaign together, it was clear they had differences between their teams. How do you explain the Nyambori and Fadhe arrogance. The two key point men in this alliance never worked together. Nyambori made it clear that he was taking orders from Oyugi and Fadhe made it clear he was taking orders from Anyanga. How does that workout?

3. Oyugi/Anyanga alliance did not have any campaign strategy and even if they did, they never made domesticated and followed it. Whereas Obado/Mwita were hitting door to door day or night, Oyugi/Anyanga were either in Nairobi implementing Raila Odinga winning formula or just resting in Calabash in Migori. Mark Ouma who chaired the Strategy Team was arrogant, Gendia who was the Secretariat’s secretary had too much to hide from everybody.

4. On the day of Election, where were Oyugi and Anyanga? Where was Obado? Whereas Oyugi/Anyanga were openly absent where Obaga and Obado were doing their work, Oyugi and Anyanga waited to complain later. In Kenyan politics it is NEVER that way. You have to be in-charge until the lvery last minute.

5. Before Oyugi/Anyanga went to court, they should have thoroughly sat down with their lawyers to evaluate all the material evidence they were going to present. This after thought evidence dealt them the final blow. It was inadmissible. TECNICALITY is what finally killed ODM team in Migori.
