Why did tarmacking of Isebania-Kehancha-Ntimaru road stall?

By James Marwa Mwita

In Migori county, our silence has always been our number one enemy.

We never follow up issues. We never question things. We have never been known to hold our leaders accountable for the roles they play.

Let me take Kuria as an example. Kuria has one of the poorest road infrastructure. The tarmacking of major roads has been on the agenda for long.

Ok, for now that’s not my concern. My concern is the Isibania-Kehancha-Ntimaru road. The project was started around four years ago. A small section was completed.

A very small one. The rest of the road remains undone up to this day.

We deserve to be told what happened. Somebody has to tell us why the project was stopped, what happened to the funds allocated to the project and all.

The silence need to be broken. The leaders need to answer these questions.

If the previous leaders didn’t account for what they did, then let us not expect the current ones (and the current Migori county leadership is failing us terribly) to be accountable.

I have highlighted one case. There are many instances that we the people know of but we keep our silence. Silence will drag us behind in development.
