British American Tobacco has been told to improve on their prices to Uriri farmers who continue to languish in poverty.

Uriri politician Paul Odhiambo says BAT is frustrating farmers in the region and it is time they are told to improve on their services.

Odhiambo says farmers’ toil in their farms yet BAT is taking them for a ride with some merger payments.

He says the duration the payment is effected is too long for farmers to endure and want BAT to improve on payment duration.

He says farmers are unable to send their children to school in time since BAT has failed to give payment in time.

Speaking to the press over the weekend in Uriri, Odhiambo told BAT to establish more picking points for tobacco leafs.

He says closing the picking points across the constituency is hurting farmers who have to trek long distances to deliver their tobacco leafs to Oyani centre.

Odhiambo says after the delivery of the tobacco leafs, farmers are again forced to make endless trips looking for their payments.

He says the people of Uriri will not be wasted by an investor who continues to reap million of shillings but fail to honor farmers who give them the raw material.
