ODM STATEMENT ON NEW WAVE OF INSECURITY IN THE COUNTRY

We have a very brief message for the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy Mr William Ruto.

We want to appeal to the President and his deputy to stop dancing on the graves of Kenyans.

The president and his deputy must stop mistaking the wailings of mourning Kenyans for songs.

Mr President, give us back our country. Mr President, our country is shrinking, under your watch. We are losing the North Rift to bandits.

We have virtually lost what used to be North Eastern Province to terrorists and bandits. From Baringo, to Pokot to Turkana all the way to Tana River, the bandits are in charge.

This week, we lost 54 lives in Turkana-Pokot region. We lost another 13 lives in the Loyangalani area of Marsabit. And what do we hear? The President and his deputy are going to the South Rift to diffuse rebellion against the
Deputy President and woo people to JAP.

The president is retreating to safe zones and mundane partisan political issues while our country shrinks.

The President is retreating to State House Nairobi, to State Lodge Sagana and to South Rift where he thinks it is safe.

But the country is shrinking and soon, there may be nowhere to retreat. It is unacceptable, inconceivable and unbelievable that neither the President nor the Deputy President has visited Garissa University College, a month after our children were butchered in cold blood there.

Garissa University remains closed.

Garissa Kenya Medical Training College is closed.

The children in Baringo did not go to school in the first term and they have not opened schools for second term because the bandits have taken charge of the region.

There is no learning in Mandera because all the recently recruited teachers who were posted there have not returned for the second term. Mandera County is resorting to retired teachers to fill the gap. No word from either the President or his deputy.

The President is abdicating responsibility.

We are seeing clear signs of a failed leadership.

Uhuru and Ruto must give us our country back.

We want to see leadership from the front, not retreats and warnings. President Uhuru and his deputy Ruto must head up North, not south, not anywhere else.

Thank you and God bless Kenya.
