NGO donates 14 dairy cows to Kuria needy children

14 needy children in Kuria region have benefited from a dairy cow each donated by non-Governmental Organization.

The donation by Child Fund Kenya will help boost the children health and livelihood.

Child Fund director David Mariba who addressed parents at the funds Nyabohanse offices said they have been working on Early Childhood Care and Development and Educational support to the young ones.

“We focus most on programs that seeks to give children especially the orphans a hope of leading a good life through educating them and giving them the necessary food to improve their health status,” he said.

According to Mariba since they came to the region in 1986 they have been supporting 16 local ECCD Centres with feeding program with over 3,000 needy children benefitting.

16 ECD caregivers have also been trained on various aspects of child development while currently 121 enrolled children in the area have benefited from CF’s school uniforms support project.

“This help to boost high percentage in school retention and transition to various level of education in the area,” he said.

The project has so far supported 201 needy children in high school, colleges and vocational training centres with school fees.

Joseph Nyanga, Kuria west sub county livestock development officer who attended the function urged beneficiaries to take care of the animals.
