God Jope MCA Ochieng’ Abwao has faulted foreign trips taken by his colleagues in Migori county assembly as a waste of public funds .

Abwao is the first MCA to come out in public to oppose the trips after Auditor General report place Migori Assembly as the highest spender on MCAs trip at Sh215m, which is 170p.c than allocated amount.

He said the amount of money being spent on these trips should be channeled to development projects within the ward.

“Migori residents are yet benefit from these unnecessary trips which should be scrapped off,” Abwao said.

He singles out a trip by MCAs to India which he said brought nothing tangible to the county and the people of Migori as a whole.

He also criticised his colleagues who have rented houses in Migori town instead of going back home to their wards
insisting they are shying away from the responsibility bestowed to them by the electorates.

“This has caused slow development in wards as voters don’t have contacts with their MCAs,” he pointed out.
