I will still table Speaker Ogolla impeachment motion on Tuesday- Gucha

Kakrao MCA Joe Gucha has insisted he will still table the impeachment motion against speaker Gordon Ogolla next Tuesday.

Speaking to the press, Gucha said he has faced intimidation from his colleagues in the assembly fatre he questioned how over Sh12million was withdrawn from assembly account.

Gucha said he has already tabled the motion which also seeks a vote of no confidence against clerk Patrick Wakine and two accountants over the withdrawal.

Last Tuesday, Gucha did not table the motion after tension as rowdy youths invaded assembly grounds.

The MCA insisted he was not afraid of the threats and will continue to fight for what is democratically right.

“According to the law, the speaker is not answerable to anybody but can only be brought to board through a motion and that is what I did” Gucha said.

He insisted he does not have any ill intention with the motion and said the speaker should face the assembly and explain the withdrawal of the money.

“Taking the motion was not ill intended, all I was doing is to follow the rules because the speaker is not answerable to anybody. All we want him to do is to explain to us how a sum of 12millon was spent,” he said.

He called for calm and said the motion was not politically attached but was trying to protect what belongs to the county.
