Catholics across the world have been told pray for Migori governor to stop harassing the church over land grabbing incident.

During mass today at St. Joseph Ombo Catholic Church. the church priest Kevin Obeto has called on all catholic followers in the world to pray for Obado.

“So that he can know what a good leadership entails and to stop frustrating Catholic Church,” Obeto said.

Obeto said Migori county government is frustrating Catholic Church in the county after a move to forcefully and illegally reposes three land parcels of land belonging to the church.

The three parcels are at Macalder in Nyatike, Kitere in Rongo and the most controversial one at Rapogi in Uriri, which is meters from Obado’s home.

“A group of youths were sent by governor Obado to Rapogi Catholic Church the previous Sunday to storm the
church,” Obeto said.

He said that even though some of them were arrested by CID officers who were on alert, they were later released.

Obeto said that it was unfortunate that the youths were released following an influenced from the governor.

“It is very unfortunate for the county chief to use autocratic method of leadership to frustrate the church by grabbing their properties,” he said.

Youths chanting pro-Obado slogans had in the past burnt sugarcane plantation belonging to the church at Rapogi and county graders flatten a section of the farm.

Youths also attacked church members and brought mass to alert for several hours when they block Governor aspirant Anne Anyanga from worshipping there.

Catholic priests have constantly accused Obado of inciting his supporters to attack them.

“Obado should seek for justice through the court
if he believes in the rule of law so that the truth be found on the legal owner of controversial land at Rapogi,” Obeto told members before praying for Obado.
