Construction works at the Migori county Stadium is ongoing and will be complete in a months time.

According to the Nairobi C. Construction engineer at the site Mr. Luke Ochieng, the earthwork that is currently being done will be complete in a weeks time.

He went on further to state that the drainage system is complete and up to standards with the FIFA way of doing it.

“We are working hard to have the earthwork complete by next week then we begin the laying of natural grass that will be in two stages, with the first stage entailing cutting and the last stage called the back filling using sand.” Ochieng went further to add.

He said that the Terraces and the main stand including dressing room will take a bit of time but he assured the county residence that the delay in completion of the work was due to the Changes in the County Government structures where initially the department was one but now split to Public Works.

Ochieng said that apart from This stadium, they have constructed the Ultra modern Azam Sports Complex in Chamazi,Dar es Salaam with their sister company Pepeta Construction Company

Once complete the stadium will have a capacity of 25,000 and it will roughly cost them Kish 25 million.

The Stadium will serve as an alternative ground for Kenya Premier league side Sony Sugar which is just 26 kilometres away.
