Abuor lauds Opapo FC for clinching Rongo NG-CDF cup

Opapo fc beat Kameji fc 1-0 to clinch the Rongo Sub county tourney finals held at Kuja secondary school.

Jeremy Asewe scored the whole important goal in the 38th minute of play in interesting finals that attracted spectators who thronged the Kuja secondary school grounds to watch the match marking the end of 2019 in a joyful mood.

In the semifinals of the tourney, Opapo fc beat Kitere fc 1-0 to qualify for the finals as Koderobara fc lost to Kameji fc 4-5 in a post penalty matches to qualify for the finals after a barren draw in the usual 90 minutes of play.

In the play offs Kitere fc also beat Koderobara fc in the post penalties again.

In other matches, Rongo Township beat Ngodhe fc to clinch the volleyball trophy by 3 sets to 1 as Rongo United beat Kuna fc 38-18 in the netball finals while in Rugby matches Shujaa beat Moran 25-11 to clinch the trophy while in Para-volley Rongo beat Kitere by 3 sets to 2 in the finals.   

During the tourney the awards for each category included, football where the winner went home with a trophy, a set of uniform and a ball, Sh50,000 first runners up Sh20,000,a set of uniform and a ball with the second runners up getting Sh10,000.

In netball Rongo United pocketed Sh30,000, Kuna went home with Sh20,000 and Marera went home Sh10,000.

In volley ball Rongo township pocketed Sh20,000, Rongo went home with Sh15,000,In Rugby Shujaa went home with Sh15,000,Moran, Sh10,000 while Chipu pocketed Sh5,000.

In para-volley Rongo pocketed Sh15,000 while Kitere went home with Sh10,000.

Every team that participated in the event got a Mikasa ball and set of uniform.

While speaking during the event, Rongo MP Paul Abuor, who sponsored the event and Mark Ogolla Nyamita who also attended the finals showed their delight with the players.
