In 1997, Ochilo Ayacko was Raila Odinga’s official candidate, under the sponsorship of the National Development Party (NDP). He defeated Dalmas Otieno for the Rongo Constituency parliamentary seat.

In 2002, Ochilo was Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC). He defeated Otieno for the Rongo Constituency parliamentary seat.

In 2007, Otieno was Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He defeated Ochilo for the Rongo Constituency parliamentary seat.

In 2013, Otieno was Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of ODM. He defeated Paul Abuor for the Rongo Constituency parliamentary seat. Ochilo did not vie for any political office in the general elections.

In 2017, Abuor was Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of ODM. He defeated Otieno for the Rongo Constituency parliamentary seat.

In 2017, Zachary Obado was Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of ODM. He defeated Ochilo for the Migori County gubernatorial seat.

Over the last more than 2 decades, the only constant has been Raila. Whoever has been Raila’s official candidate in contests involving Ochilo and Dalmas has emerged victorious.

It is now 2018. Ochilo is now Raila’s official candidate in the forthcoming Migori County senatorial contest. Dalmas sought to be Raila’s official candidate, but did not succeed in this quest.

If the one constant – Raila – remains, then Ochilo will defeat Dalmas.

Both Ochilo and Dalmas seemingly know this, explaining why in each election in recent years they have sought to be Raila’s official candidate in any election, and neither has been successful when he wasn’t Raila’s official candidate.

So what should one conclude concerning the forthcoming contest?

As between Ochilo and Dalmas, it is Raila’s official candidate under the sponsorship of ODM who will emerge victorious over the other! Raila is king!
