Let Monica Juma go in peace- Silas Jakakimba

Being sympathetic to her is like dancing on the gloomy graves of Garissa University students.

She was PS Interior when highly trained 24 Recce Company rescue officers were stuck in their Ruiru base because the Government ‘could not hire even a commercial aircraft to drop them to the scene’.

Monica unashamedly swore an affidavit in support of the draconian Security Laws, 8 Sections of which the Courts later struck out and declared oppressively unconstitutional.

Had the audacity of purporting to keep at bay, elected representatives of The People from (the services of) her office, sought on behalf of the electorate on matters as sensitive as security. This is utterly unacceptable.

Then there is Charles Nyachae ‘threatening’ to take some MPs to court. This one who could not even take Jubilee administration to court in the face of draconian and unconstitutional security laws. When his CIC sought to appear, on record it did so as ‘amicus curiae’, as a docile friend of the court, neither for nor against the petition, yet its lawyer later joined AG, and Monica’s Interior Ministry team in making submissions supporting the dictatorial laws.

There are many other (over)qualified Kenyan women of highest professional and academic standing who also subscribe to the Jubilee fiasco. Sorry, manifesto, if any.

His Excellency the President can therefore, appoint any other lady.

The women and men in Parliament who stood by the People and not ‘gender’ on this matter, heads high.

We have to let Monica go in peace.
