The schools affected are Kodera Kuoyo and Koyier primary and secondary schools with teachers and parents forced to have children cross in groups.
“The bridge has been key in connecting the village with other main towns and four schools in the area we are staring at disaster,” Agnes Anyango, a parent said.
She said they are in shock over delays in completing the project.
Allan Odhiambo, a teacher at Koyier said the collapsed bridge should be quickly finished by Migori county government as they have been facing acute absenteeism.
North Sakwa MCA Timon Mbogo said construction started about a year ago, and only backfilling of the bridge to allow movement is remaining.
He said it was sad the issue has taken a political angle.
