Night runners fault planned in-door malaria spraying, say it will kill their animals

The Chairman Kenya Night-runners Jack Songo has criticised the planned in-door malaria spraying (IRS) set to take place in Migori and Homa-bay counties.

Speaking to Migori News on phone from Homa-Bay, Songo said the chemicals used in the spraying exercise are harmful to their dear animals.

Songo said the officers in-charge of the exercise ignored them when they were doing mobilization before the exercise to collect their views on the exercise.

The night-runners chairman said they are still recovering from casualties resulting from the same exercise that took place “last time” which claimed several lives of their tools of trade.

“We are not going to allow those people into our houses owing to what we encountered last time,” Songo said.

He added, “After all this exercise should be directed to bushes as that it where mosquitoes live and let our houses be.”
