Why Ayacko has stopped public attacks on Obado ahead of 2022

Migori senator Ochillo Ayacko shocked many during a recent function in Uriri constituency for his soft stance on his political nemesis governor Okoth Obado.

During the recent burial of immediate former Uriri MP John Kobado’s father in West Kanyamkago, the fiery senator took a more modest approach in his speech.

But addressing the press in Migori town recently, Ayacko has dismissed claims of softening his staunch oversight role on county government.

He said even though he has toned down on publicly lashing at Obado and his administration, his oversight role “has been silent.”

He insisted that the silence was not politically instigated, as he seeks to be the second Migori governor after Obado, his political nemesis.

His recent move has been seen as political maneuver ahead of 2022 election where he seeks to be second Migori governor.

The electorate is keen to see the governor deliver on his mandate and that can only be achieved through proper oversight and that is what doing I’m currently,” he said.

Ayacko maintained governor Obado should be given time to deliver on his mandate to the electorate, noting that service delivery would be greatly hampered if leaders are not united.

The governor has been under investigations by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) over Sh2.5billion irregular procurement in his administration, tough he has never been charged before a court of law.

In 2017 general elections, Ayacko vied and failed against Obado in both ODM primaries and general election in polarising campaigns marred with violence and mud-slinging.
