Obado should never contact Sharon family, keep off Homa Bay- other bail terms

Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been released on cash bail by high court in Nairobi after spending weeks behind bars.

Governor Obado was arrested alongside his aided Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero following the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Judge Jessie Lessit released Governor Obado on kshs. 5 million with two sureties of 1 million while his co-accused Oyamo and Obiero were denied bail.

Obado was directed to deposit his passports with the court as a condition to being released on bail.

Judge Lessit set down the following conditions to be met by Obado

  1. Obado shall not cause an adjournment in the case
  2. Obado shall once a month report to the deputy registrar of the court
  3. Obado shall not go anywhere of 20 KM of Homa-Bay County boundary on all sides of that county.
  4. Obado shall not contact or intimidate whether directly or by proxy any of the witnesses the case as per the witness statements and other documents supplied by the state to the defence.
  5. Obado shall not intimidate the parents, siblings or close relatives of the deceased .
  6. Obado shall refrain from mentioning, discussing the deceased in any gathering or political meeting whether public or private.
