Three journalists from Mediamax Media House owned by President Uhuru Kenyatta were on Wednesday assaulted by youths in heated Nairobi governor politics.

Sarah Ndungu (People Daily reporter), Patrick Kimanthi (K24 cameraman) and Charles Mathai (People Daily) were injured when stones were thrown by youths supporting senator Mike Sonko at Dandora.

The scribes were on Governor Evans Kidero’s convoy in Dandora area for funds drive at Friends Secondary School.
Police officers were forced to fire in the air to save the scribes as Ndung’u, suffered a deep cut to the head.

“The group threw stones that smashed our car’s windscreen and injured. They thought we were part of the Governors entourage,” she said from Nairobi Hospital while others were treated at Mater Hospital.

The Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) and Kenya Correspondents Association have condemned the attack and warned politicians against targeting journalists in their melee.
