Six people are facing charges of disrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s rally Monday this week.

The six appeared before Migori Principal Magistrate Edwin Nyaga and faced a single charge of causing disturbance.

The six are: Geoffrey Owuor, Ahmed Ramadhan Jeffar, Antony Ochieng’, Kennedy Omondi, Geoffrey Odhiambo and Fred Omondi.

They denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.

Presecutor Kenneth Kiruai told the court that the six had been positively identified of committed the offence that plunged the presidential rally into chaos.

Rodgers Abisai, the lawyer who represented the suspects said the charges as flimsy and lacking proper evidence to associate them with the disturbance that occurred at the venue of the rally.

“There is no clear evidence here your honor incriminating these people to the said charges,” Abisai told the packed court.

Magistrate Nyaga later released the accused on a cash bail of Sh5,000 each with a surety of a similar amount each until 1st October when the their case will be heard again before the same court.

Earlier police officers brought the accused under tight security as thousands of wananchi including relatives thronged the court to have a glimpse of them.
