Slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno’s mother Melida Auma has declared interest to voe for Homa Bay Town West MCA seat.

Auma said she will seek the seat in ODM party stronghold through Deputy President William Ruto United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party.

About three years ago, her daughter Sharon and her unborn child they sired with Migori governor Okoth Obado were brutally murdered by unknown assailants.

DNA reports proved the unborn child belonged to Obado.

Obado and two personal assistants are already in court over the murder chargers..

Reported emerged that Auma was joining politics when she started actively recruiting UDA members and she believes Ruto will trounce ODM leader Raila Odinga for presidency.

“I would have wanted ODM, but it is very difficult to get a ticket there. Furthermore, leaders from ODM who had vowed to stand with us before Sharon’s burial abandoned us immediately we lowered her body into the grave,” she is quoted by People Daily newspaper.

She attacked ODM politicians who promised to shoulder the burden of paying fees for three children left behind by Sharon.

The ward representative hopeful believes that once she bags the political seat, she will be at a good position to better the lives of her children and grandchildren.

“I decided to try the MCA seat because I want a better life for my children and grandchildren. It is tough, but I will try,” she notes.

She also claims that a section of politicians, who actively practice law, also vowed to offer pro bono services for the family in court but later turned their backs on them.

“These people were only after political mileage. They forgot us. They stopped picking our calls as soon as we interred our daughter’s remains,” Auma said.
