Migori Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo has urged senators to focus more on equalization funds to ease county budget impasse.

Odhiambo said more discussion by senators should focus on the purpose of equalisation funds, which will cover poor and marginalised counties that may have their funds reduced.

She said senators should existing equalization kitty so that counties perceived losing on revenue sharing formula are compensated satisfactorily.

“That is the only way we will ensure equitable distribution of the national resources,” she said.

Pamela regretted that the debate on revenue formula is turning nasty as witnessed last Tuesday night where senate members spent time shouting another without reaching a solution that works for Kenyans.

Women Rep revealed that equalization funds do not end in the places budgeted for saying developed regions at times benefit from this funds instead of undeveloped areas.
