Kuria West MP Mathias Robi has said Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to Awendo town on Saturday shows that the Nyanza region is ready to shun opposition politics.

Robi said the region is tired of often voting for ODM leader Raila Odinga who has never ascended to power.

“The next government will be formed with Ruto and UDA at the helm, most voters and leaders in Nyanza are aware of this and they are struggling to find a space with us which we have done with an open hand,” Robi said.

He said the recent move by immediate former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo to join UDA party is welcomed and show the shifting of the region away from ODM.

“We are confident that Migori will vote in for Ruto and already in Kuria region we have locked the votes in a bloc and we have set our eyes on the larger county and Nyanza region,” he said.

He said the party plans are on top gear for fresh membership recruitment drive that targets 150,000 members

He said already Kuria East and Kuria West Sub Counties have registered 20,000 new voters with Kuria West MP Mathias Robi noting that the party was targeting 150,000 new members.

“The political dynamics in the county are fast changing following the move to have more members absorbed. We are upbeat that we will have a considerable number of voters in the net general elections,” Robi  noted.
