Migori governor Okoth Obado on Thursday appeared before high court in pre-trial conference over murder charges of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno and their unborn child.

Through lawyer Cliff Ombetta, Obado filed for a review of his bail terms and wants restriction on travel within Homa Bay County withdrawn completely.

The restrictions have stopped him from accessing his multi-million rural home in Rapogi which falls within  20 kilometers from Homa Bay county.

Wearing a maroon shirt without a tie, black coat and grey-green trouser, the governor looked pensive as he sat next to his two co-accused and his personal assistants Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo.

Last year, the governor spent a month in Industrial Area Remand Prison over the murder charges of Otieno and their unborn child while his political nemesis Ochillo Ayacko won the senate race in by-election which Obado never voted in.

on October 24, he was released on bail by Judge Jessie Lessit and after the pre-trial conference earing will be held between May 6-17.

In September, the student at Rongo University, was abducted alongside Nation journalist Barack Oduor, who escaped narrowly by jumping from the abductors’ speeding vehicle.

Days later, the lifeless body of seven months pregnant Otieno was found dumped in K’odera Forest in Homa Bay County.
