Nairobi Minority Leader Elias ‘Tetemeko’ Okumu has embarked on silent ground work campaigns in his second attempt to unseat Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.
Okumu today was in Mapera area of Suna Central ward, a ward considered Junet’s stronghold as it touches Migori town and bulk of Wasweta clan where he enjoys support.
Okumu, in direct appeal to residents directly had a chat with groups of people from their homes, market centers and those leaving churches to drum up support.

This comes weeks after he got the blessing of Kanu Party Leader Gideon Moi, a close ally of former Migori speaker Gordon Ogola, to host a harambee in the Kwa Ward.
Both Okumu and Ogolla hail from Kwa Ward area where also Junet considers his main base.
He also hosted Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and a host of Nairobi leaders in a harambee in aid of institutions in the area.
In last polls, the Kileleshwa MCA and former Majority Leader started off a spirited campaign to unseat Junet.
“Okumu is moving in slowly to gain traction in grass root with the main aim of re-claiming the seat in next polls,” immediate former God Jope MCA Ochieng’ Abwao told Migori News.
Abwao noted that Okumu has gained more traction by coalescing leaders from the constituency and is out to reach the ballot, unlike in last time.
Okumu is said to have been persuaded by ODM leader Raila Odinga to pull off from race to avoid upstarting his blue eyed boy Junet Mohammed.
Suna East has been Junet political playfield and in 2017 won with over 11,841 votes against businessman Patrick Odipo of ANC.
Junet got 19,980 votes, followed by Odipo at 8,139 while former Migori MP John Pesa coming third with 7,081 being defeated twice by the incumbent..
We trully need change in Suna East constituency..The current Mp has done completely nothing to talk about .We believe Hon.Elias Otieno is the man who can bring meaningful development that the people of Suna East yearns for.
