Orero Boys makes Homa Bay history with top performance, A students given laptops

Orero Boys secondary school in Rangwe sub-County in Homa-Bay will this time round take to public universities 255 students who scored B plain and above.

Only 2 candidates scored grade B minus in 2015 KCSE exams breaking the school academic record since its inception in early 70s.

The Rangwe Sub County Education officer William Minyiri urged parent to focus in education instead perishable investments.

He said it was disheartening for parents to deny their children education at this time when there is global job competition.

Minyiri who Attended prize giving ceremony organized by the school for exemplary performance for the 2015 candidates . expressed satisfaction that Orero Boys has put Homa-Bay County in the national academic map.

28 best performers who scored straight As were rewarded with Lap-tops while the rest were given brief-cases to carry their belongings when they will be joining various public universities.

Parents jammed the institution to express gratitude for the exemplary performance and pledge to sacrifice meager resources in ensuring the school retains its academic position in years to come.

The Principal Peter Awuor alluded the good performance to God’s grace, dedication and discipline among the students, support staff and the teaching fraternity.

Awuor said his staff are dedicated to eliminate Bs in future national examinations and have set a realistic projected target mean score of 11 and above from previous 10.

Orero Boys was second to Asumbi girls which scored mean of 10.8 to 10.4. It defeated academic giants schools like Mbita, Homa-Bay, Agoro-Sare and Oriwo boys.
