Senior prison wardens have landed in hot soup after Citizen TV aired news on VIP treatment of governor Okoth Obado at Industrial Area prison.

Obado is currently being held at the B2 block of the prison awaiting October 8 application for his bail term after being charged over the murder of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno.

Otieno, and the lovers un-born child were found brutally murdered earlier this month at Kodera Forest in Homa Bay county after abduction.

According to the report aired by Citizen TV Kenya, senior prison wardens ignored orders by judge Jessy Lesit to ensure the embattled governor is not offered special treatment at the facility.

The report said Obado is held in the same cell with two other inmates facing similar murder charges but is offered regular supply of clean blankets and bed sheets.

Obado is also said to be still wearing his civilian clothes instead of prison garbs and his food is specially brought from outside.

The report also hinted that Obado may still be running Migori county government affairs from the prison as he has unlimited access of staff at the cell.

He is also being guarded by a warden at the rank of a sergeant to take care of his needs.
