Political leaders from western region have appealed to the national government to ensure insecurity in the country is contained.

Led by United Democratic Forum (UDF) party boss, Musalia Mudavadi, the leaders wondered why military personnel were still fighting in Somalia against Al Shabaab while the militants are re grouping to attack innocent Kenyans.

“Why must we retain our soldiers in Somali yet back home innocent Kenyans are killed and no one is talks about it,” he said.

Mudavadi said the government should improve the level of security in the country to avoid losing more life in future and to check on the better ways of dealing with the militant group.

“We have been seeing this attack for a while and it is now more serious with our army still in war with the Al Shabaab we should improve the internal security in the country for our people”, he said.

Mudavadi also warn the public to be their own security and to work as a team to help dehorn the habit of regular attacks in the country.

Uriri MP Hon. John Kobado also requested the president to restructure the security team and use the officers who are capable of doing their job.

“The reshuffle in the security sector should be done and those who are capable of doing the job to do it before we lose more lives”. He said

The leader also supported the governors to be given more powers of coordinating the county events without creating implementations that will bring differences between the national and county governments.

“The president promised to implement the new constitution and not to change on what was in it as we saw the other day with the provincial and county commissioners”. He added.

However, Migori county governor Zachary Obado also promised to boost security by employing the county policing officers who will be part of the security team in the county.

“We work close with the national government and our county assembly has passed a bill that will allow us employ the county policing officers who will boost our security as a border county”. He said

The call comes just few days day after a suspected bomb blast was experienced in Gikomba market in Nairobi.
