#Migori: Obado’s protocol hitch and locking out other leaders caused chaos

By Kenya Today

President Uhuru Kenyatta was in the right place brought by the wrong people.

While in Awendo, shortly after he’d landed, he planted a tree inside the Sony Guest House compound and headed to a room where MCAs were waiting to receive the ‘father of the nation”.

At the entrance, Mr Kenyatta entered and the door was immediately closed behind him. “This meeting is only for the president and the MCAs. No one else,” said the full height Govenor Okoth Obado towering above everyone else .

Nyatike MP Hon Edick Anyanga, Suna West MP Hon Joseph Ndiege, Hon Kopiyo of Awendo, Hon.Kobado of Urir and Senator Hon. Machage stood there staring at the Govenor who clearly did not please them. They silently went to the tent where cane farmers and everyone else was waiting to be addressed.

When Kenyatta finished and joined the rest at the tent, protocol embarrassement began to ensue when area MP was bypassed. Kopiyo shot up in an attempt to speak prompting Obado to allow him a chance to introduce other MPs .

As if that would not be enough, Mr Obado spoke and immediately called Cabinet Secretary Koskei to the podium to introduce the president ignoring Kisumu Govenor who was sitting near the Minister. Mr Koskei insisted Govenor Ranguma should have spoken. ” I thought I would introduce him in a big way,” said the embarrassed Obado as Kisumu Govenor took to the podium.

While in Uriri, a huge crowd was waiting to see Kenyatta. At the Uriri High School pupils poured into the street as Govenor Obado quickly grabbed the microphone ,said a few words before inviting Kenyatta to speak ignoring the area MP who was standing by him. It’s Mr Kenyatta who realised and called the MP to speak.
