Maureen said Royal Media Services chairman SK Macharia, her fans and fellow Musicians helped her.

The musician was arrested on April 3 in Mwanza Tanzania after performing in the country without valid immigration and work permits.

She said during the arrest, her two band members managed to escape the police raid because they were out of hotel and managed to sneak back to Kenya with the other 12 ending up in court.

“So far only six members are still in Tanzania, I know they will be out by Monday,” she said.

She narrated that her woes started when a Tanzania promoter called Liz trailed her in Mombasa and agrees to offer her Sh400,000 to perform for two days, April 1 and 2.

Liz, who is musician Prezzo aunt was to pay half of the amount as deposit but only gave Sh80,000 with the rest (Sh120,000) received at Isebania before the 14 team band proceeded to Mwanza on March 30.

“As the border the4 promoter who sent two vehicles to collect us said we were to pick it at Tarime, collected out passports to pay taxes and get work permits,” she said.

Although the show was successful, the promoter refused to pay any extra money until when the team was picked from their hotels by Tanzanian officials.

“Attempts to seek help from politicians who I sang for failed as most did not even bother to pick calls. I sang Luo politicians a lot in my songs which were hits, but help came from places and friends I least expected, this is an eye opener,’ she said.

The team was jailed for a year or pay an equivalent of Sh35,000.

“May God grant SK Macharia with good health and success in his businesses, I have realized Kenyans should never be divided into tribes,” she said.
