Here are the six candidates for Homa Bay speaker race

Homa Bay county assembly speakers are poised to pick their speaker from six candidates slated for Wednesday.

Earlier 13 people had picked their nomination papers, and only six made the mark while seven others did not return their forms in time.

Leading the race is John Apollo the former County Chief of protocol under governor Cyprian Awiti and two former MCAs Julius Gaya from Central Karachuonyo and Evance Marieba former Gwassi North MCA. Marieba once served as a speaker of the same house.

Others are Fredrick  Gaya, the  director of Youth Empowerment Bridge Organization (YEBO) Africa,  Innocent Masara a seasons politician and youthful  Pascal Odhiambo.

Assembly Clerk Faith Apuko said the six will square it out to replace the outgoing speaker Elizabeth Ayoo.

Candidates said they will promised to restore sanity at the County Assembly and ensure that the Assembly plays its oversight role on the County government without interference or any biasness.

The Assembly has been in the past meted with violence corruption cases,leadership wrangles where by at a point the members face one another physically.

A number of former MCAs and former employees including the former majority and minority leaders and the clerk are currently serving their jail terms after being found guilty of corruption and embezzlement of public funds amounting to millions of shillings.
