Migori will build a new official residence for governor Okoth Obado worth Sh45million with his deputy Mwita Mahanga’s costing Sh35million.

The venue for the houses is yet to be established.

Currently Migori rents out a house from BAT Kenya within Migori town which acts as Obado’s official residence while Mahanga has no official residence.

This was through a supplementary budget tabled by Masaba MCA and Budget and Appropriation Committee chairman Abedi Maroa.

Migori allocated Sh1.35billion for supplementary budget since the onset of devolution in 2013 to April this year.

He said the committee first sat on October 22 after receiving data from controller of budget, special committee of assembly on pending bills and special reports from departments to allocate the amount.

Migori has been among counties on threat of not receiving allocation of devolution funds for not paying bills.

“Our main focus and emphasis was on paying of pending bills, as assembly we will want all contractors and suppliers who completed their work with Migori, especially the executive wing are paid,” Maroa told the press outside the assembly after the session.

The budget was unanimously passed.

Several wards have been allocated Sh720m to help roll out specific projects while the stalled Migori county stadium will get Sh70million for completion.

Sh52million will be used to build six new ward offices and complete those which have been pending.
