Politicians and elected leaders have been cautioned against black mailing civil servants.

Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga said politicians to leave career civil servants alone to help implement government policies.

Anyanga said the recent move to impeach Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru showed that civil servants have been faced with politicians hell bend on blackmailing civil servants.

Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi had filled an impeachment motion against Waiguru over abuse of office and most specifically the transfer of National Youths Service Director-General Kiplimo Rugut.

Speaking to Migori News over the phone the legislator said elected leaders from MCAs, MPs, Governors and senators in doing their work and should be offered support to help implement government policies.

“Politicians should stop using blackmail career civil servants who have tirelessly built their careers to serve Kenyans which will affect service delivery,” he said.

His Kuria East counterpart Shadrack Manga said elected leaders should close their party and political differences in offering service delivery.

Planning Principal Secretary Peter Mang’iti said that elected leaders, especially MPs should offer support to civil servants in attaining government policies.

“Most government office holders like Waiguru built their career through the civil service away from politics and stand a better chance to deliver if offered support,” he said.
