The Migori county Muslim community has rejected calls for blessing of same sex marriage as directed by the Catholic Church pope.

Under the Migori Muslim Development Committee, leaders said Kenya as a religious nation should not take the directive as a means of accepting same sex marriage in the community.

The committee chairman Omar Hussein Ibrahim in a press conference in Migori town said Kenya as a religious country should take with disdain the move to bless same sex marriage.

Committee member and elder Mzee Baraka Majid said in both Christian and Muslim teaching same sex marriage can never be blessed and encouraged in the society.

Former Mandera county MCA Faiza Omar Hussein said while same sex marriage is accepted in the Western world, Kenya and other parts of the world should not be forced and bullied to take up the practice.
