An Ugandan fisherman drowned at the disputed Migingo Island in Nyatike sub-county.

The deceased who is yet to be identified tried to urinate on his boat which had docked on the island.

Migingo Beach Management Unit chairman John Obnge said the deceased was drunk when he went to sleep on a docked boat at the island after checking on conditions of their boats previously.

β€œHe woke up at night and tried to urinate at the side of the boat when sudden gush of waves tossed him into the lake and he drowned,” Obunge said.

He said his colleagues woke up in the morning and only found his shoes.
