The fight against Covid-19 in Kuria East has received a major boost after locals received tank donations from World Vision.

The tanks were spread across the sub-county’s four wards through the NGO’s youth empowerment project to enable locals wash their hands in bid to prevent the spread of the deadly corona virus.

Speaking during the exercise the project manager Peter Oduk said the tanks would be managed by youth champions under their project run by Undugu Society to ensure their proper utilization.

“These tanks will be put around boda boda shades and local markets in the villages and will be managed by our youth champions to ensure they have enough water and soap as well as ensuring that proper handwashing protocols are observed by locals,” said Oduk.

Undugu Society’s director Alloys Opiyo urged the youth to be on the frontline in the fight against the corona virus especially in the villages.

“The youth are soldiers who are always at the forefront in protecting the community and my appeal to them is to take on this fight seriously,” said Opiyo.

The tanks were distributed in Ntimaru East, Ntimaru West, Nyabasi East and Nyabasi West wards of the border sub-county.
