Kenya police have scheduled another search and raid at governor Okoth Obado’s magnificient rural home christened ‘Rapogi Mall’

Sources said officers raid, coming after another one last week on Monday will come in a move to investigate the governor missing firearm licence.

During the last raid at his Lavington and Rapogi homes, including official residence in Migori town, eight guns were found.

Already police have withdrawn firearms of five police officers guarding Obado.

The DCI is probing guns recovered from the county chief’s Migori home.

On Friday, detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit searched Obado’s gun licence at his Lavington home.

The officers did not find the firearm licence, which the governor told investigators was at his Nairobi home.

According to the Star newspaper of November 19, “Police want Obado’s gun licence scrutinised by the Firearm Licensing Board as part of their investigations into three guns, which were found in his Migori home.”

Police have scheduled a further search at the Obado’s rural home, the paper adds quoting police investigators privy of the matter.

Here are why the home will be raided again:

  • Missing firearm licence from Obado
  • Establish origin of a gun, a ceska pistol, which is said to have been left by a criminal in the compound
  • Further search a house occupied by the governor’s security detailwhere guns were found.
  • Establish how an AP officer attached to the governor was issued with a civilian firearm, which he was using when on duty.
  • The same guard also had an official government firearm – a G3.

Obado is out on Sh200,000 cash bail following guns charges.
