Migori county contractors and suppliers have demanded Sh800million debt on finished projects from county government and governor Okoth Obado, accrued for past three years.

Speaking to Migori News, the association secretary Godness Oucho said they have given Obado that days to pay them otherwise they will organised “the mother of all strikes in the county.”

“We vow to put the county Government and compel it to pay us our dues which started since three years ago. Where are all the billions issued by the national government if we cant be paid?” Oucho fumed.

Among the debt accrued are for food supplied to patients in public hospitals.
Contractors have committed suicide while others have their property auction over delays.

“Only contractors and suppliers who are close to Obado, top county officials and their immediate family members are getting paid. Others are left out,” Oucho said.

Sam Otieno, the association chairman said they will also demand a list of payment from the county to confirm the claims only companies close to the governor get paid.

The letter was copied to county secretary Christopher Rusana, County Commissioner Idd Matata, County Police Commander David Kirui.

Apart from contractors People Living With Disability demonstrated towards Obado’s office to demand the whereabouts of missing Sh20million allocated to them (SEE SAD PHOTOS HERE).
