Despite the bad blood between the Luos and Kuria in Migori county, the NASA presidential team for Raila Odinga will campaign in Kuria region.

The Migori county ODM leaders said they will not be moved by last Wednesday meeting by a section of Kuria leaders that warned the party not to campaign in the community until the assembly speaker election standoff is cleared.

They were led by county Secretary General Joseph Olala, chairman Philip Makabong’o and Kuria West chairman Morris Kiingu among others.

“We sat down with all officials in the county especially our delegates from Kuria and have agreed that we will all go to Kuria and campaign for Raila,” Olala said.

“Let nobody lie to you. Every tribe is united behind Raila Odinga and as Kuria community, we will deliver triple the votes he got during the August 8 elections,” Kiingu affirmed, saying the earlier statement did not represent the Kuria community.

Makabong’o said they were sure of winning in the October 17 polls despite Uhuru Kenyatta getting 65 per cent of votes on August 8. Raila got 34 per cent, trailing in his own Migori county backyard.

Kuria elders threatened not to vote for ODM after goons attacked lawyer Kerario Marwa and Kuria MCAS when he was winning in favour of North Kadem MCA Boaz Okoth.
