H.E Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko accompanied by his deputy Dr Joseph Mahiri, County officials and administrative officers drawn from the national government , met the Kuria community at Kehancha in Kuria West ahead of the official conferment of a Municipality status to Kehancha town.

This is in exercise of powers bestowed upon the Governor by section 9 of the Urban Area and Cities Act that provides the power to grant any town the status of a Municipality provided that it meets the required conditions.

Notably Kuria community and Migori county at large are set to benefit from development projects that come with such elevations.
