Migori County Government has allocated Sh13 million to Uriri Sub County Hospital in efforts to improve on child health care, maternity and voluntary male circumcision services to the locals.

Speaking during the launch of the project, Migori Deputy Governor, Mwita Marwa said that outpatients and inpatients services will also be boosted.

The fund will be used in the construction of maternity and children’s wards and the facelifting of the Uriri hospital.

“This is a move aimed at providing health services to the people around this area. The county government will do all it can to ensure there are adequate health services to the people of Migori,” he said.

County Executive Member of Health, Iscar Oluoch, said plans are underway to provide ambulance, construct a laboratory and the staff quatres before the end of this fiscal year.

“We know there are still a number of challenges facing us here. We shall make sure this is tackled for the locals to have the best health services. Migori County Government is committed to ensuring services are provided,” she said.

Marwa appreciated the area MP John Kobado for the role he is playing in cooperating with the county government in developing the sub county.

He also promised the residents that the hospital will soon be upgraded to a level 4 facility before the end of this financial year.

“We have a dream for this hospital and many others in the county. The ambulance will be brought to the hospital soon,” the deputy governor promised.

He, however, challenged the sub-county administrators to wake up and start the process of informing the locals of what the county government has done, is currently doing and plans it has for the people.

“Let us remain united and work as a team to build our county. Health is an important sector and concerted effort is necessary,” he said.
