Two brothers died while seven gold miners sustained serious injuries after a mine collapsed at Osiri, Nyatike sub-county.

The mine collapsed following heavy rains that have been pounding the area.

The two brothers, Peter Ouma Otieno, 27 and Fredrick Ouma Otieno died on the spot while others are nursing injuries in several dispensaries in Nyatike.

Area OCPD Dishon Chebaka said the mine collapsed as they were digging for ore underground

Chebaka said the police in collaboration with the community managed to
recover the bodies which have been taken to Migori Level Four hospital.
