Residents of Ragana estate have called for governor Okoth Obado to realise his pledge to pipe water to the area and across other regions in Migori town.

For three years, Migori installed the pipes to serve the Lichota farm and airstrip which have been dry ever since.

Joseph Owuor resident told Migori News that he wondered why “county government of Migori can spend a lot of taxpayers’ money on a project that cannot be completed.“

Three water pipe lines has been installed from Number Junction to the area for over five kilometers after “survey was been done and people were asked to pay Sh1,000 for T junction pipes, we paid we have not been supplied with water.”

He adds: “We are worried why these pipes were installed, maybe somebody wanted to spend the money somewhere by the name of fake project,”

Ludia Obilo 56 year’s old woman said she is forced to hire boda boda rider to fetch water from the river which is not also safe for drinking

“We are kindly asking governor and Migori to help us with water and fulfill their pledge during campaigns,” Obilo said.

Migori County Executive Committee member for Water and Energy Rebbeca Ghati said that she is aware of stalled project, but said he was only a year old in his office after “inheriting several problems from her predecessor, but the problem will be resolved.”

Ghati however admit over the stalled Ragana water project that was installed over three years ago when she was not in the officer

“I know it is a stalled project but I may not have more details why it is stalled remember the water was meant to server Migori show ground but not for Ragana Community, we have a blowhole at Kiringi which the County Government is working on so that the community from Ragana get clean water,” Said Ghati

She however urges the community to be patient while the County Government is working toward solving there problem.
