Migori Rotary Club donated donation to flood victims worth over 0.5million in Nyatike.

The club’s president Joseph Ayieko gave the donation to over 150 victims at Kabuto Primary school.

Ayieko said the donation included sugar, maize meal, cooking oil and an assortment of items such blankets, re-usable sanitary pads and water treatment drugs among others.

“We call on residents to move to higher ground and start taking personal steps to relocate to higher grounds where the effects of the annual torrential rains would not hit you again,” he said.

“Rotary Club of Suna Migori or any other organization or people of goodwill will not always come to your aid in times of calamities hence your security should first start with you before it comes from outside,” he said.

Several people in Nyatike and especially in Kabuto, Nyora, Aneko and Angugo villages always face perennial displacement from their abodes as a result of ferocious floods that destroy their homes and kill a number of their livestock.
