Police in Migori have nabbed bhang worth sh. 2.3 million in Bondo Nyironge village in Migori county while on patrol.

The police who were informed by the members of the public about the bhang that was being packed in bags at a home in the village rushed to the scene and found 400 stones of the drug already packed ready to be transported.

According to the DCIO Migori, Benedict Kigen, the bhang business that is rampant in Migori County comes from the neighbouring country Tanzania through Isebania border and is transported to major town of Nairobi and Mombasa where it fetches good market values.

“We raided the home and found small kids in the homestead ,It seems the residents had seen our vehicle and gone into hiding we are still doing our investigations to get the culprits”, Said Kigen.

He said that the home owners ran into their hideout after seeing our vehicle near the home and we could not established their destination as the bhang was left in the house with only children attending to it and their
vehicle that was waiting to transport the drug also vanished into the village.

The bhang that was collected is being held at the Migori Police Station as investigation continues; Mr. Kigen gave warning to those intending to continue with the business that they should take care because they are on trail.

The business that has taken a lot of time and efforts to eradicate in the county still continues as police intensify patrols and want the Tanzanian authorities to help them in eliminating the illegal trade in the county and the border regions of Isebania and Mara regions.

The police are going on with the investigations to get to nab the culprits who will be arraigned in court the moment they are found.
