Migori senator Wilfred Machage has now officially defected from ODM back to his previous Democratic Party where he will vie for Kuria West seat.

Earlier this week Machage said he was not going to defend his seat on ODM ticket, but was to vie for MP seat (READ IT HERE).

In last polls, Machage had left the DP where he was the national chairman and decamped to ODM.

Former President Mwai Kibaki was DP candidate in several polls leading to him becoming the president.
He had said he will not defend his seat on ODM ticket after “ wide consultations with my supporters.”

“Let it be known and clearly understood that I will be contesting the parliamentary (constituency) seat,” said Dr Machage.

His chances of retaining his seat remained minimal after the fallout as majority Luo community felt he did not do enough to get votes for Raila despite the infamous negotiated democracy.

But Kuria West MP Mathias Robi had said he was ready to bury the bearded politician career in August 8 polls saying he had failed as senator and area MP in past 10 years (READ THE STORY HERE).

Robi had chided Machage that he was not going to vie on Jubilee Party ticket because the development the government had brought in Kuria region was not possible when he was in opposition.
