Rongo University’s 800 graduation list locks out education students because of failed teaching practice caused by Covid 19

The Rongo University education department did not produce any graduands during the December 18 graduation ceremony because of Covid 19.

Those affected were from the bachelor of education department.

They did not take up teaching practice because schools were closed, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Samuel Gudu explained.

“They will not be part of 800 graduation list because this year there was no industrial attachment Covid 19,” Gudu said.

He said the potential graduands had acquired all other requirements and will join the list next time.

This year’s graduation was special as graduands only followed it virtually to , and only few (those graduating with PhD) allowed at the venue.

“Even the dias was thin as we only a few dignitaries, the same too for graduation parlour to maintain social distance,” he said.

He said already the institution finished a five storey building to serve as lecture halls which will help in maintaining the 1.5meters distance.

“Other general preparations like staff rotation to ensure space and students safety with hand washing are on,” he said.
