Rongo constituency residents have raised fear of insecurity ahead of 2022 general elections as a skeleton was picked in a sugarcane plantation.

Sugarcane harvesting work last Sunday stopped when the skeleton of a man who is suspected to be a boda-boda rider were found with clothes and shoes beside it.

Erick Omondi who rushed to the scene to confirm the body belonged to Felix Ogutu, his brother who disappeared on April 30, 2021.

Joseph Ligawa who is the chair of boda-boda riders in Rongo Sub-County said that yesterday they got a report of ‘one of them’ who died and his skeletons was discovered in a sugarcane plantation.

Ligawa noted that the man was the third person to be discovered in the area in just a span of five months.

Two weeks ago, another rider was found dead at Grasha area in Rongo, as residents woke up and bumped on the dead body.

Three months ago, another man was found dead at Ogeng’o area in Rongo.

“The man was killed at night and was only discovered the following morning,” Ligawa noted.

Last year, two boda boda riders were found dead while seven riders had their boda bodas stolen.

However according to Rongo Sub-County police commander Peter Okiring they could not ascertain if the body had been there for a month and would let pathologists conduct tests on the body to ascertain if it was the one being claimed by Omondi and a section of boda-boda riders.
