Rongo police have arrested 18 school children, 49 adults for loitering and breaking Covid 19 rules.

The group was found loitering, not wearing face mask or braking social distance rules among other laws placed to combat spread of Covid 19.

Rongo sub-county commissioners Joseph Satia, parents took away eight students after they were contacted with the others taken to Rongo Residents Magistrate court before Raymond Langat.

All 49 adults were arraigned in court, 32 pleaded guilty and were released on a fine of Sh1,000.

The rest were released on a cash bail of Sh1,000 pending mentioning of th case on 12 August and hearing on 14 September.

Satia called on parents to monitor their children closely to to prevent spread of Covid 19.

“The number of children who have been defiled and abused since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic has risen and this is as a result of parents not watching after their children hence prompting the arrest of these children,” said Satia.

He said further arrests will be on to ensure ovid 19 rules are adhered to.
